Title: Praise, often forgotten and often ignored.
Date: July 2009

Praise, often forgotten and often ignored.

Imagine walking into a Baptist church while they were singing a song and as you look out unto the members you see a half dozen or so people with their hands up in the air.

Some are saying, Praise you Lord some, We love you Lord.

Incredible! You say. Not in my Church such things will never go on!

1Ti 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

We pride ourselves of keeping the Old ways yet if someone praises the Lord or gets too emotional and perhaps sheds a tear, they are to be scorned!

Why should Pentecostals have all the fun?

When my little girls sit on my lap and say we love you Daddy I get choked up, teary eyed. I ask them, Why do you love Daddy they reply, because you are so good to us.

I dont know about you but that makes me feel so good. Do you think God likes that also? Sure He does.

We praise you Lord, we lift up our hands to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and we care not who sees or knows that we do it!

When we repent before the Lord we might also lift up our hands. It is a sign of surrender. As the song  goes: All to Jesus I surrender

Psa 28:2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.

When we surrender and lift up our hands we are saying, It is all yours Lord, there is nothing we can bring to your mercy seat, we give up and put it all in your hands.

We are made in the image of God and if you like praise so does He.

After all, we are commanded to praise Him.

Psa 106:1   Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Just because you are not in the habit of doing something, that doesnt mean its not right. All throughout the Bible we read how Holy men of God praised Him day and night.

I teach at PBC, that we must seek Gods face daily and pray. We also know we are to be obedient to Him.

We must also be aware of having a loving relationship with the Father. It should not be mechanical. It should be real.

Am I saying everyone needs to lift their hands? No. I am saying everyone needs to praise God as they feel the Holy Spirit leading.

Lets commit to have a loving and even fun relationship with God as we praise Him and seek His face.
